Hacked Off with Y2K and Software housesis "Year 2000 ready". This means that the software / hardware is capable of handling the year 2000 but is not the same as "compliant". Compliant means that the item will handle any / all 2000 date handling correctly (including leap year processing). Ready means that the item has been changed but it is not a guarantee that any / all 2000 date situations will be handled correctly. Final Word A final word to the web editors who manage sites that have patches and downloads. Please make you instructions clear and concise and make it obvious which patch is required. A colleague of mine today toasted one router and maybe a second and spent all day unsuccessfully trying to install a Y2K upgrade. He telephoned the company 2 or 3 times and was given instructions that just weren't on the web site or the documentation that came with the patch. It's YOUR mess guys - why should us users have to clear it up and suffer the consequences!
