You have your computer, your modem is attached, you are ready to go! Dinga dinga dinga brrrrrrrrrr - your modem splutters forth and suddenly you are on the information superhighway - the Internet!!!!!
Great idea! Now who can I ask? That's just it isn't it? Just WHO DO you ask? I have found a rather useful answer to this problem that we all face from time to time - being stuck - not sure what to do next. The answer? Use a little program called ICQ - I Seek You. This program loads whenever you connect to the Internet and provides you with the ability to message, chat, send files and URL's to other ICQ users. The basic idea is to build up your own 'contact list' of friends, family, fellow enthusiasts - whoever. You can then see when they are on-line and chat to them. You can message them (which is instantaneous), swap files and URL's I have used ICQ as a most effective and efficient tool to provide people with technical support over the net. I have also made some new friends!!! Living in the UK means that I am often at a 'different time of day' than my friends. No problem with ICQ! I can just leave messages for my friends around the world! ICQ is written by Mirabilis and can be found at ICQ Home Page I don't work for Mirabilis - just use their product (which is free by the way!). If you seek help and new friendships then ICQ is the the thing for you! Chris Cruickshank August 1997 Go To Page: 1
