Planning a Long-Distance Party

Thursday morning we packed coolers with the prepared food, including two bags of frozen chicken pieces. By the time we drove the 10 hours to our destination the chicken had begun to thaw, and I tossed the pieces in a large bowl with the marinade. Everything went into the cabin's refrigerator, and we went out to meet our friends at a restaurant for a really fun pre-wedding dinner. Our wedding day dawned....well, rainy. We had to go into town to get our marriage license, and by the time we returned to the cabin the sun had come out, and happily it stayed the rest of the weekend. There was a pretty, round table in the cabin, and I assembled the cake in the center of it. Around it I placed the plates, napkins and forks, a cake server, and sprinkled wedding-themed confetti. My sister brought bowls of nuts and mints, and it was a very pretty display. The ceremony was beautiful! The chapel's wedding coordinators had created a lovely bridal bouquet for me, and provided us with a very professional video that captured every moment. After pictures it was back to the cabin to party! Since everything was prepared, it didn't take long to set everything out, start the grill, and pour the champagne. It was a great celebration, and a wonderfully fun way to begin our new life together. Here's to lots more parties in our future!
