More Easy Centerpieces© Becky Doland
It's hard to believe, but it's been a year since I started Party Planning here at Suite101. In looking over my page statistics, I see that the article that has been viewed the most was on making easy centerpieces. I hope some of you found them useful! Here are a few more centerpiece ideas for you:
Bridal Shower or Anniversary: A really nice and simple idea is to use the couple's wedding cake topper as a centerpiece. Set it within a ring of either real or silk flowers -- white with greenery or complimenting the wedding colors. A variation on this theme would be to use the couple's unity candle in the same way. However, if this is a shower before the wedding...don't light the candle! They'll probably want to save the first lighting for the ceremony. Baby Shower: Tie a big satin ribbon in a bow around a teddy bear's neck - whatever color ribbon you desire, pink, blue, yellow, etc. Set Teddy in the center of the table. Make a small cardboard sign that reads "Welcome Baby" and prop it in Teddy's arms. You can use colorful markers or paints to make your sign. Birthday, Mother's Day, etc.: Start with a pretty flower pot. This can be as simple as a plain terra cotta pot purchased at a discount store, or if you're a crafter you can add decoupage or stenciled designs to the pot. Put a chunk of floral foam in the bottom on the pot, maybe about 4 inches thick. Lay some spanish moss on top to cover the foam. Now take 3 or 4 of those little mylar balloons on sticks they sell in the grocery store and stick them down into the foam. Tie a pretty cloth ribbon around the flower pot, and you're done! Any Occasion: Do you have one of those big, three-wick candles? Set it in the table on whatever type of base you have it on currently. Take a trip to your local craft store. They make small, wired garlands for all occasions: metalic red, gold, green, or silver with little metalic stars; orange and black with little plastic jack-o-lanterns or bats; green with shamrocks, etc. Wrap the garland around the candle and you have a super fast centerpiece that you can adapt to any holiday or special event.
