What's more fun then choosing that perfect costume and strutting your stuff at a fun Halloween party?? Having a contest to award the most creative one, of course! Here are some tips, ideas, and links for pulling off a seamlessly spooktacular costume contest! You will find tips for voting, contest prizes, and links for the best adult costumes and children's costumes, including homemade costume ideas!

TIP #1 Be Prepared:

Advise the guests on their invitations that this will be a costume contest.

Consider using stick-on nametags. As guests arrive number them and write their names and number on a sheet of paper. Ask them to don the nametag. This will make it easier for voters to choose their favorite costume by number if they do not know the person's name or what to call their costume ;).

TIP #2 Vote Box: Cut a small opening in the lid of a shoebox. You may decorate the box with Halloween paper or giftwrap. Label it "Vote Here". Next to it, provide small pieces of paper and a pen for guests to place their votes. At a designated time, tally votes and announce winners.

TIP #3 Prizes: Award adult winners with Halloween or fall candles and decor, a bottle of wine with a fabric Halloween ribbon, animated Halloween decor, or gag gifts... Award children winners with McDonald's gift certificates, a bag filled with Halloween candy, small toys, coloring books, etc...

TIP #4 Costumes: You can buy costumes premade, put together your own, or make yours from scratch. Here are some great links that we found with the best costumes, how to's, and ideas.
