Valentine's Day is not just a holiday for couples. It's true, the majority of people celebrate by going out to a romantic dinner with their sweeties...but, here are some other creative ways to celebrate "the holiday for sweethearts" with all of the sweeties in your life.

Host a children's Valentine's Party:

This can be for your child and his/her friends, cousins, neighbors, etc.. or a classroom or day care party.

Decorate: with heart mobiles, heart shaped balloons, and pink, red, and white streamers.

Menu: Serve a pink punch (see recipe below), and heart-shaped sandwiches, quesadillas, and cookies (using a heart shaped cookie cutter).

Make pink punch... You'll Need: 4 liters cranberry ginger ale 1 gallon raspberry sherbet In a large punch bowl, pour 2 liters chilled cranberry ginger ale. Next scoop raspberry sherbet into bowl. Then pour the other 2 liters of chilled cranberry ginger ale over sherbet. Serve.

Activities include: This is a great idea from Shindigz. (www.shindigz.com) ~Musical Hearts Tape large red Die Cut Hearts to the floor, one for each child. Every child begins by standing on a heart. Start the music and have the children walk around the room. When the music stops they need to stand on a heart or they are out. Remove one heart after each musical segment.

~You could also have the children make their own take home Valentine for mom and dad. Just provide them with all of the supplies, such as: red, pink, and white construction paper; markers; white paper doilies; Elmer's Glue; various Valentine's and heart stickers; safety scissors; Scotch Tape; lace ribbon; and glitter. ~Get a cupid pinata. Kids love pinatas, and you can fill it with little heart rings, stickers, and all kinds of Valentine candy.

For Party favors: Hand out small boxes of conversation hearts, small stuffed bears, stickers, etc.. A great place to find Valentine's Day party favors and decorations is at Oriental Trading at http://www.oriental.com/ If you are feeling especially creative, you can also make handmade chocolate heart suckers, using a great Valentine's sucker kit from Wilton. See this link: http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product... Tie each with a pretty red polka dot fabric ribbon.
