Want to start some new holiday traditions with your family and friends? Here are a few ideas, new and old ones, to share with the people that you love.
Christmas Memories Party: Start a Christmas scrapbook. Collect photos of Christmas' past. Purchase a scrapbook album that you will use only for Christmas memories. They have some beautiful ones that come in Christmas styles, plaid, and solid red or green. Invite family members to a "scrapbooking party" to create beautiful scrapbook pages, using the photos that you have collected. If you are a beginning scrapbooker and need tips on doing this, check out this site for information, ideas, and inspiration: http://www.bee-utifulscrapbooking.com/ Display your Christmas album for all to enjoy every year during the holidays. What wonderful memories to preserve and cherish for years to come. Host a trim-a-tree party! First, go to choose your tree with family. One of the best memories I have as a child, was to go in search of the perfect Christmas tree. Once home, mom always made us hot cocoa as we warmed up and got ready to decorate the tree. Invite family to come and help decorate. Play Christmas music in the background to put everyone in the mood. Serve homemade potato soup and sourdough rolls. Here are some more great ideas and recipes: http://www.allrecipes.collchristmassl/ch... Pop popcorn and provide needle and thread and make garland the old fashioned way! Make homemade dough ornaments (I think mom still has mine ;).) See http://www.zeeks.com/484.html Ice skating party: Ask friends to get bundled up with skates in hand and join you for a fun ice skating party! Fill thermoses with hot cocoa and bring cups for everyone. Go to a great place where the ice is thick and large enough for the number of skaters invited. Bring a shovel to clear off an area large enough for everyone to skate. Also bring along blankets for the ones that may need to warm up. Extra mittens, etc. is a good ideas too, as some may get wet from the snow. For party favors, make individual baggies of a trail mix: (peanuts, m&m's, mini marshmallows, sunflower seeds,etc.). Tie tops of baggies with homemade pom-pons(that guests can attach to their skate laces)(see http://www.wkidscrafts/class/kidscrafts/... for how-tos). Transport all of your goodies with a sled for easy hauling to your skating rink. Cookie Exchange: This is a great way to get a variety of the best Christmas cookies, and also a whole lot of fun! I do this every year with about 6 of us girls, and we have the best time. This is what we do: Go To Page: 1 2
