HALLOWEEN AND THANKSGIVING WITH TWINSWell, after Halloween, the next big holiday is Christmas, right?? Wrong, it’s Thanksgiving!! Geez, was I really going to have to fix a big Thanksgiving dinner for us at home and try to take care of these 2 little babies at the same time. And, was Steve going to invite anyone over to have dinner with us??? NO!!!!!!!!!! That first Thanksgiving we started a tradition in our family that is still going strong to this day. We went out for dinner!!! It was so nice, we ended up at Denny’s (of all places) for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. We would have gone to a buffet (like we do now), but we really wanted a place where we would be waited on. It was a very nice dinner, quiet and peaceful. The boys slept all through dinner and the waitresses held them when they woke up so we could finish dessert. Our Thanksgiving dinners aren’t as quiet now, but they are still peaceful, because we are away from home and someone else has done all the cooking and cleaning. I still buy a turkey every year, because we do like leftover Turkey meat – but I don’t do the whole meal here and I like it that way. So, what did I learn about babies and holidays?? KEEP IT SIMPLE!! Make all the planning and executing of holidays as simple as possible and don’t try to do it all! I realize everyone wants memories of holidays when their children are young, but I am here to tell you that a simple holiday can be very special. Next month: I better get some exercise – I still have baby fat to lose!!
