Hey honey, I'm fixing dinner! The boys are on the floor - YAY!!Yep, life was good – I had this “taking care of two babies at the same time” stuff down. But one day, I thought – hey all I’m doing is taking care of the babies. Now that’s not a bad thing, but I was not doing anything else in the house. I hadn’t fixed dinner for my husband in weeks!! It was time to do other things. Of course, I didn’t just jump right into this way of thinking, it took a while. I was still going through my regular routine of sleeping with the babies while they slept, diapering them, feeding them and putting them in their car seats and gliding them to happiness. By the way – were my legs getting a great workout during this time or what?? My thighs were slimming down from the constant gliding motion – it was great. My arms also were starting to get a good workout from hefting two boys around in their car seats (more on that later). After a couple weeks of gliding the boys in their car seats, we put together some sling back seats that we had purchased for them. These replaced the car seats when we were in the house. We called them “the bouncers” because instead of gliding the boys, now I bounced them in the sling back seats while sitting in my trusty blue recliner! We used these seats all over the house. We fed them in these seats while we ate dinnner, we carried them around in these seats to whatever room we were in, we sat them on the counter in the kitchen while we washed dishes or made dinner; we loved these “bouncers”. And my legs continued to get a good workout at the same time! Well, I was caught up on my sleep and I decided that I needed, no wanted, to get other things done. I had baby books to get started on, food to fix for my husband, cleaning to do, etc. One day I was holding the boys and got to looking at the floor and I wondered what would happen if I lay the boys on the floor for awhile. What would they do and would they be ok there? So, I did just that, I put a bunch of baby blankets all around and I lay them down on the floor after feeding them. It was amazing, they didn’t fuss or cry – they just lay there and looked all around the room. I watched them for awhile and then got up to put their bottles back in the fridge. Our dog, Diablo, came over to check on them; he did his usual sniff and lick and then he lay down by them. It was almost as if he had decided that he would watch them for awhile for me.
