Pregnant at last ... Oh no, it's Twins

I always said I wanted to be a Mom by the time I was 30! Well, 30 was fast approaching and still no kids. Finally we faced up to the fact that something was wrong and headed to the Fertility Doctor.

We went through a few tests. My husband had a sperm count done - normal. I had a test called an "Endometrial Biopsy". This test determined that I was not ovulating at the proper time of the month. So, to regulate my cycle I was to start on the fertility pill, Clomid. Before I could do that - I became pregnant! What a shock to us and what a disappointment when at 8 weeks I miscarried. We were pretty sad, but decided that God had some reason for this pregnancy to not continue. We waited a few months so my body and mind could heal before starting the process all over again.

Well, after about 4 months on Clomid - Bingo, I was 5 weeks pregnant! Since I had miscarried at 8 weeks with the 1st pregnancy and right after a vaginal sonogram, I decided to wait until 9 weeks for my first sonogram. Since I was seeing a fertility doctor, it was policy that as soon as you are pregnant you have a sonogram. This was to make sure the baby was in the uterus and not in a fallopian tube.

All through the "fertility" process, my husband and I decided that we wanted one child. Well, God had other plans for us. At the first sonogram (I had 8 during the pregnancy), my doctor was looking for the baby and said, "Hmmm, this looks suspicious!" Yep, you guessed it - twins!! Well, we knew what the chances were when we started on Clomid - 10 percent! Add into that the fact that I have twins in the family tree - ups the chances even more.

So, here I was - Pregnant at last; with two babies! We were: Thrilled, in shock and wondering what we had gotten ourselves into! But, press on we would and pray that God would be with us along the journey. And what would that journey entail??

Next up: Being pregnant with Twins is twice the work!
