The Closed Door Phase

brother is right next door. Don't think it's a twin thing, I think it's a "roommate" thing. To have shared a room for almost thirteen years and to go cold turkey overnight--that's a big change and one they will have to get used to gradually. It should be very interesting to watch over the next few months.

I'm excited because now they have a place to put their backpacks and their band instruments. My living room will be neater without those two things laying around. I'll also get a chance to use the family room for myself now too. I can watch a DVD when I want to (they each have a DVD player in their room), I can have a place to exercise and I can spread things out down there if I want to.

My advice to other parents of twins regarding rooms is, do what you have to. We had the boys in the same room for certain reasons, you may do the same or you may separate them for other reasons. Every situation is going to be different. I will say one thing, "The Closed Door" phase is certainly quiet, I don't think the house has been this quiet for quite some time. Ah, do you hear it?????
