Twins, Triplets, & More

Did you know that there are 125 million "multiples" living throughout the world right now? Or that 2.6 % of all births involve twins? Or that Muhammad Ali & Michael J. Fox are both fathers of twins? You can learn lots of interesting facts & trivia about twins by visiting some of the many "twin" sites on the Web.

On the other hand, you can get a lot more substantial, useful information, too, from advice on the best multiple-style strollers to discussion about special medical concerns. If you're a parent of twins or other multiples, or expecting multiples, you might want to check these Web sites out. (It's ok for the rest of you (us) to look, too!)

Twin Stuff, which bills itself as "By Twins, For Twins" is very interesting--attractively designed, with lots to offer. There's Twinformation, with essays and book reviews, Twin Talk, a forum, Twin Events, etc. Twin News offers lots of news features about twins, while Fun/Games has some online games about twins, along with monthly photo contests. There's also a nice list of links to other Web sites.

The National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, Inc., a network of about 475 local clubs in the U.S., has an excellent Web site. Features include the Nursery, with information and tips on caring for multiples, a Library, with facts and trivia, a Shopping Center, and a Bulletin Board. The Research section lists open research studies that interested families can participate in. You'll also find membership information, a local club locator, and a members-only area.

Dads have gone online, too. The International Online Fathers of Twins Club has a great Web site for fathers of multiples. This, too, is a membership organization, and membership is free, offering a monthly newsletter and access to a database of members. This site has lots to offer nonmembers, too. Here you'll find a bookstore, classifieds, listings of "free stuff", more trivia, photo contests, and informative feature articles.

The Twins Foundation site, run by a membership group for families with multiples, also offers lots of news and feature stories, trivia, links, a gift shop, and publications.

There are many other Web sites devoted to twins and other multiples. Some are maintained by organizations or commercial enterprises and others come from individuals and families. One very nice family Web site is Raising Identical Twins, which includes many photos of one family, their Twin Babies' Journal, and lots of links to other sites.
