The Psychic World of Cats Part II

© Jill Stefko

Cats and other animals have demonstrated psychic ability, called anpsi, a part of the paranormal realm. The sixth sense of cats has been documented many times. They have sensed the imminent arrival of a loved one and when a loved one is about to die, telepathy. They have sensed natural and other disasters, precognition. They have found their loved ones when the humans have moved far from home to a place the cat had never been or found their way back home from long distances, psi-trailing. These are the subjects of Part I. Cats as ghost seers and cats as ghosts.... When Dr. Nandor Fodor, psychoanalyst and parapsychologist who pioneered in studying the relationship between the two, wrote his book, Between Two Worlds, he used the term "ghost seer" in his chapter about Carl G. Jung. This term refers to the ability to perceive apparitions, that part of the human that survives the death of the physical body. According to survival theory, people can both perceive and becomes apparitions. I believe that this is also true of animals.

Cats are able to sense an unseen presence. A parapsychologist took a dog, cat, rattlesnake and a rat into a haunted room in a house in Kentucky to test them for anpsi. All except for the rat reacted. The cat hissed at a chair, jumped from its owner's arms, then ran out of the room.

A family in Queens, NY, took in a stray black and white kitten. They had not experienced anything paranormal in their house. The kitten would look at the staircase and move her eyes from the bottom of the steps to the top, as if she was watching someone walk up and down the stairs. Sometimes, she would stare at the ceiling and watch something that the humans could not see.

One evening, the kitten was looking at the ceiling with excitement. Her owner heard what sounded like the steps of a man wearing heavy boots walking upside down on the ceiling. The cat became frenzied and hissed and spit at the ceiling. This stopped in a matter of about ten seconds. The kitten stopped looking at the ceiling. The owner checked all of the rooms in the house. No one else was there.

Scott lived in a house that had been a funeral home. It was winter and he was snuggled under a blanket with his cat and dog on a heating vent. He had a clear view of the entryway. He heard footsteps upstairs. The animals' ears went up when they heard the sounds. The footsteps proceeded down the stairs and the animals watched something that Scott could not see. Their eyes watched the presence walk down the stairs, go through the living room, then into the dining room. Their heads moved in tandem as they reacted to both sight and sound of what Scott could hear, but not see.
