In 1972, my son, James, and ex-husband and I were living in Toledo, Ohio. We visited with my parents during the Christmas and New Year's holidays. The house felt like home. I knew I would have a psychic experience. Nothing happened until January 1st or 2nd, 1973, the day we returned to Toledo.
My ex and I shared the small bedroom that had been the kitchen. My mother's bedroom was to the left. My ex used to complain about packing the car because he thought we got too many gifts. As I was walking out of the bedroom, carrying a suitcase, I clearly saw brown wing tipped shoes and the grey slacks on the lower legs of a man. I thought it was my ex, so I did not bother to look up. When I got into the kitchen, Dad was sitting at the table and my ex came into the room from the outside. Neither wore grey slacks and brown shoes. What I saw in the doorway of my mother's room was solid. Even now, I wonder what I would have seen if I looked up. This was the first experience involving the haunted room. The second two happened in 1979 after I left my ex and my son and I returned to Bethlehem in 1979. We shared my mother's room. One night, I heard the door brush the carpet as it opened and shut. I asked my family if they had done this. No. My son had an Ouija board that refused to work in the room, but worked in the kitchen and made some accurate predictions. I stopped playing with the board years ago. At times, I would feel a presence in the room. In October, 1980, my mother had her first experience in the room. She and my father had separate bedrooms. She told me she tried to change positions and the covers were tight, waking her up. Her first thought was that something had happened to James and me and that we were spending the night with her and dad, so he gave one of us his bed and shared hers. The covers were pulled up to his chin. Mother turned the light on, but, when she looked, no one was in bed with her, but the covers were pulled up and there was an indentation in the pillow. The visual phenomena continued for about a year. There was the man in jockey shorts who scratched his back, a woman in a shawl, another woman in a wrap-around skirt, a family of four - father, mother, boy, girl, a girl in old fashioned ringlets, my brother's dog and two dogs playing. When Mother saw my brother's dog, he reported that the dog was acting strangely at the time of her sighting. The faces were always indiscernible, shadowed. Before she saw the phenomena, there was a chill in the room.
