The Paranormal - Roswell Part 2In Roswell, Part One, we discussed the supposed crash of a UFO. Debris was found by rancher Mack Brazel and turned over to authorities. A crashed saucer was supposedly also recovered, along with several alien bodies. We'll discuss the debris field first. The Roswell incident is too involved to bring up every detail here, so we will hit the highlights. The first discrepancy is the timeline. Just when exactly did Mack Brazel discover the debris? According to the conventional Roswell story, he discovered the debris after a violent thunderstorm that occurred on the night of July 2. But in the original story he told to journalists on July 8, 1947, he said the debris had been found on June 14. Brazel did not think that the debris was very special; he allegedly pulled it under a bush and left it alone. It wasn't until he went to town and heard about the recent sightings of flying saucers and the fact that there was reward money for finding one that he got excited about his find and decided to contact authorities. What sort of debris was found? There were stories of strange metal, liquid aluminum and wood-like pieces that wouldn't burn and contained some strange hieroglyphic writing. That's what the conventional stories claim was found. Supposedly, the metal found appeared to be tinfoil, but when bent would crumple back to its original shape. According to the stories of Jesse Marcel and his son, the material was very strange and had strange properties. Actually, the debris was much more conventional looking and consisted of smoky gray rubber-like material, gray strips, silk like threads, tough, brownish parchment-like material, metal foil and aluminum- like collars, aluminum foil with a strong backing on it, and balsa wood-like material which had tape and strange flower-like designs on it. This is a description of the material given by Mack Brazel's daughter Bessie, who was with him when he recovered it around June 14, 1947. The material found on the ranch exactly matches the description of a Project Mogul balloon launch. These balloon trains consisted of radar reflectors, reinforced parachutes, a radiosonde, ballast, filled balloons, nylon wire and metal rings. This matches what was found on the ranch. Most damning is the wood with the tape with the purple writing on it. Project Mogul used tape from a novelty store to reinforce some of the material. The tape had purplish flowers imprinted on it. Everyone that is still alive who worked on Project Mogul remembered the tape, and how amusing it was that the government was using something that looked so odd. Marcel, his son, and the other people who all saw the debris commented on the tape; tape with flower- like or Japanese-like designs on it. Marcel was the only one who seemed to think the writing looked alien. No one else did.
