The Paranormal - Roswell Part 1For centuries, strange things have been observed in the skies. Ezekiel saw the wheel, the Chinese made reports of strange flying objects, and there were reports from Germany in the 16th century. In 1897, the United States had the Airship scare. During World War II, both the Allies and the Axis pilots reported strange lights that almost seemed to play with their airplanes. The Allies called them foo fighters. Both sides thought these things were the work of the other. In 1946, Sweden was plagued with "ghost rockets", rockets that seemed to come from nowhere and disappear into the heavens. It wasn't until June 24, 1947, though, that UFOs became famous. That day, a pilot named Kenneth Arnold saw nine disc-shaped objects skipping along in the air near Mount Rainier in Washington State. After he landed, and told his story, an enterprising journalist coined the name "Flying Saucers" for the objects. Soon, reports were coming in from all over the country. In July of 1947, a man by the name of Mack Brazel was running a farm. Supposedly, after a bad thunderstorm, he went to check the fields. In one of them, he found some debris, debris like he had never seen before. Not knowing what it was, he gathered it up and placed it under some bushes. A few days later, he had to visit town. While there, he heard, for the first time, the stories of the flying saucers that had been seen in the sky. Wondering if he had found one, he contacted the local sheriff. The sheriff told Brazel that he should contact the local air base. Brazel did, and Major Jesse Marcel was sent out to investigate. Marcel gathered up the debris, which consisted of aluminum-like foil, which, according to Marcel, would not burn or bend, pieces of tin foil like material, and sticks of wood which were very light and had odd looking symbols on them. Instead of taking the material to the base, Marcel first brought it home and showed it to his son. They were much impressed with the strange alien-looking hieroglyphics on the beams. In the meantime, there were other reports coming out of an area close to where Brazel found the debris. A couple camping said that an object flew over them and crashed. They rushed to it, and the man, Jim Ragsdale, even claimed to have crawled inside the crashed object and seen several dead little bodies. He collected some of the debris, and they fled the scene.
