Letters from Readerswhat is your suggestion? i know you are not a therapist or psychologist ok. many thanks Answer: First of all, have you seen a medical doctor about the symptoms? Peace, Karen Karen, Hi i am 22 years old and about 2 months ago i started having mild chest pain I ignored them at first but ended up at the hospital 4 times in the past month I have had 2 ekg's x-rays the doctors say it's not my heart but i cant get it out of my head I get dizzy , pains , scared of death , cant sleep just wondering what you think. Thank you.
Karen, Sometimes after I have attacks my back hurts really bad, in the area near my heart. Is that normal? I'm afraid to tell a doctor. I keep thinking there's something really wrong with me and I don't want him to tell me I dying. That's sounds crazy doesn't it? Answer: No, that doesn't sound crazy at all. But trust me, you will feel better if you tell your doctor about it. I would venture to say that the pain is from tensed muscles...when you have an anxiety attack you bunch up all your muscles real tight and when it is over you are left feeling like you got ran over by a mack truck....remember, when you are having an attack to GO LIMP! Relax those muscles!!! Talk to your doctor, okay? Peace, Karen
Karen, I have all of those symptoms. My ankles hurt, too. What type of dr. should I see. I'm currently seeing a rhematologist and he has me on Zoloft. I'm really scared. Answer: I understand that you are scared. I have been there, and sometimes I still get scared. But you are not alone. You are not crazy. And you are not dying. Ask your doctor if he/she knows of any therapists who specialize in anxiety/panic disorder. Or look in the yellow pages and find a psychologist who specializes in it - the disorder is finally being recognized by the medical world and you will see that there are many doctors who specialize in it. I see that you are in L.A. - there are probably tons of programs and support groups there for this disorder. I will check around and see what I can find for you. A support group would be wonderful for you because there you will meet people who have the same symptoms
