Letters from Readerslike everytime I go somewhere I was going to have the same recurrence, I feel like I have to have a drink or food with me if I plan to go bike riding or even to the gym. I got every test done because i thought i might have diabetes but I dont. so they ruled it out to be panic disorder. I also have some dizziness problems at times and i wonder if it might be related to the disorder. like when i get in crowds, or restaurants it starts to act up I get Dizzy. I know it sounds like I am a mess. but I just saw your website, and I would appreciate if you could just tell me if this sounds like a disorder problem, if you have heard similar problems thank you very much. Answer: the symptoms that you describe sound like panic disorder - have you been to a doctor and/or therapist. panic disorder is treatable - you need to learn all you can about it and find a therapist or support group - you will feel much better if you do!!
Karen, I wanted to ask another question. do I have to take medication to get back on track,because I really dont like to take pills. What I'm asking is it possible to fix yourself without the medication. I know a little about panic disorder, I think it means a chemical imbalance in the brain. and the medication helps the imbalance. but I just hate to start medication. like prozac, paxil. If there might be a natural way. I have never done drugs or anything like that. maybe thats why I have panic disorder because I dont relax enough. well anyway im going to go now.I really appreciate you responding. Answer: I don't believe it is necessary to take meds in order to recover from panic. However, meds can be very useful for people who feel they may need it to function while they get back on track )ie: they have little children they need to care for, work, etc.) There is nothing wrong with taking meds. I don't care for them myself, as I feel they are only a bandaid. Check out the books at my site and go get one of them. All of them were extremely helpful to me - I highly recommend all of them.
