Boo Bop BeBop Bop I Love You

fun is the incredible attention to detail in the graphics. This part of the review talks about the look of the application, performance, and some of the other intangibles that can really shape how much you like a game.

Perhaps the coolest part of the game is the animation. Every action has a corresponding animation - all cute. If you have a character eat some fruit, you see a bowl with a moving spoon and the word "yum." If you have someone use a towel you see it going back and forth at an angle just as if someone were rubbing his back. If you train with the comb you see a comb pulling through luxurious long hair. It's truly wonderfully done.

BeBop is also one of the few games I've played that looks significantly nicer in color than on monochrome devices, not that it looks bad in mono. Like Bejeweled, going from the color version to the monochrome version is jarring; the comparison makes the monochrome version look terrible. I've played quite a bit of BeBop on both my HandEra 330 and on a OS 3.5 color ROM in POSE. The game is easy to play and still nice to look at on the 330, but it is stunning in color. For the HandEra users out there, it works fine in scale-to-fit mode but it's a little slow so I usually play in center mode. I must admit that playing on the device feels painfully slow after playing in POSE, but it wasn't horrible before the comparisons.

One thing I find lacking in BeBop is sound. It seems that sound effects would go hand-in-hand with the animation to together present a truly delightful interface. Although certainly the sound effect would need to be limited because of the limited capabilities of most Palms, it would be nice to have something. Ideally, there would be some type of midi-like background music as well. I usually turn off sound in games, but for some reason I really find myself wanting it here.

I've definitely gotten a lot of enjoyment from BeBop even though my current game is getting a bit boring. I considered just starting over, but I'd also be interested in seeing if there is an end game condition and unfortunately you can't save a game then play another. If you chose to start a new game the current game is wiped out. I'd like to see
