We're all familiar with the card game BlackJack or 21. BlackJack Solitaire by Seahorse Software is an interesting variation of the casino standard. It's one of the more unique Palm games, and certainly one of the most addictive.

BlackJack Solitaire is played on a board with five rows. The object is to get the highest blackjack hand in each row without busting. The game is played in rounds; each round consists of filling one board with cards. Cards are dealt one at a time and can be played anywhere on the board. You are allowed to skip one card per round. The round ends when you go bust in any row or when you can play no more cards.

BlackJack Solitaire awards points based on the hand total of each row. If your round total is less than 95 points, no points are awarded for that round. In addition, 50 bonus points are awarded for each row with three or more cards totalling 21, 100 bonus points are awarded for each row with blackjack, 200 points are awarded for getting 21 points in all five rows, and 10 points are awarded for each second left when the round is finished.

BlackJack Solitaire has 5 levels and a practice level. The first four levels all consist of 3 round games. Level 1 rounds last 30 seconds and show the current value of cards in each row on the right side. Level 2 rounds are also 30 seconds long but no running scores are shown. Level 3 rounds are 20 seconds long and card values are shown. Level 4 rounds are 20 seconds long but no values are shown. Fifth level games, called Ultimate Level games, last until less than 95 points is scored in a round. Fifth level rounds last for 30 seconds. The practice level is untimed and shows the current totals at the right of each row.

Seahorse Solitaire runs a high score page for BlackJack Solitaire. Scores are listed by level. The top five scores are listed for the Ultimate Level and the top ten scores are listed for the other levels. If you look closely, you may see a familiar name on the lists.

BlackJack Solitaire is shareware and costs $5.
