WordsearchWordsearch by Mark Nudelman is a Palm implementation of the standard word searches found in puzzle magazines. Your goal is to find words hidden in a grid of letters. The words can be vertical, horizontal, or diagonal, and all letters of a single word must be in a straight line. Wordsearch supports grid sizes of 6x6 through 14x13. The horizontal and vertical sizes can be independently set to any supported value, allowing rectangular grids of different sizes and orientations as well as the traditional square grids. In addition, you can select the number of words hidden in the grid. Wordsearch supports up to 20 words. Wordsearch comes with a word list of over 2000 words in 20 categories including animals, astronomy, countries, greek mythology and star trek, to name a few. You can either generate puzzles using words from a single category or generate puzzles drawing words from all categories. In the future additional word lists will be available for download. You can also send word sets to the author for inclusion in later modules. Wordsearch supports five difficulty levels as well as hints that generally reveal one of the words you haven't found yet and a "See Words" option that lists all of the words hidden in the current puzzle. The hints can be disabled to make the game more difficult.Once you have chosen your game options, You can also further customize the difficulty by allowing forwards, backwords, diagonal, and non-diagonal words. Each of these is separately toggable, allowing you to have all backwords diagonal words, only forwards horizontal and vertical words, only forward words in any direction, or any other word combination. Once you have chosen your game options, Wordsearch randomly generates a puzzle that meets the specified criteria. The bottom of the puzzle tells you how many words you've found and how many are hidden. It also displays a running time for the puzzle. You must hunt for the words, tapping on either the first or last letter of a word and dragging over the rest of the word in order to select it. If the word you select is valid, it will be circled. After you have found all games, Wordsearch gives you the option to play the same puzzle again or to generate a new puzzle. Chosing to play the same puzzle again allows you to go face-to-face with someone else in a timed competition. Chosing to generate a new puzzle returns you to the options screen.
