Welcome to the seventh article in my series on Palm freeware. This week I am focusing on fun little apps that can help you relieve stress at your workplace. Ranging from excuse generators to buzzword generators to a voodoo doll, these six apps are sure to make you feel better:
TechExcuse by Rampart Solutions is an excuse generator reminiscent of the game Mad Libs written with PalmFactory. Your work isn't done yet and your boss is breathing down your neck. Tell him "My report is late because Internet Explorer blew up. I took it to Radio Shack but it got worse. Let me have until next week." Or, when all else fails use my personal favorite: "My work isn't done because my virus scanner corrupted the registry. I threw it out the window but it's hopeless. Give me until Y3K." Excuses R Us by Mike Roche also generates excuses on demand. You choose who the excuse is for and the severity needed. Although Excuses R Us is not strictly work related, one of the people you can generate excuses for is your boss (wife, girlfriend, husband, boyfriend, and police are the others). The severity of the excuses range from mild to extremely serious. A typical mild excuse is "mail server was down" while an extremely serious excuse is "I was abducted by aliens. The Bastard Operator from Hell Excuse Calendar by Robert Carr displays a computer related excuse on demand. Although you cannot configure the excuse, the BOFH database is quite large and should have an excuse to fit any situation. Just hit the New Excuse button until you find one you like. Some of my favorites include "Dew on the telephone lines," "Non-redundant fan failure," and "Quantum dynamics are affecting the transistors." Buzzword Builder by Andrew Macaninch randomly generates buzzwords. If you have a job in the marketing department this could be just the tool you've been looking for. Not in marketing? Give it a test run anyway. You don't run into terms like "parallel reciprocal mobility" every day. We all know humor is a great stress reliever but sometimes it just isn't enough. Sometimes violence really is necessary. Enter Voodoo Doll by Matthew King. Voodoo Doll lets you create a virtual voodoo doll. Just name the doll after your boss or coworker and stab away. See the satisfying wounds multiply on the head, arms, and legs of the doll. Go To Page: 1 2
