I mentioned that all of the files in your backup directory will be restored. A few 3rd party applications set their databases to backup during hotsync, but generally 3rd party applications and data are not backed up. There are several applications available that will backup all of your files. Backup Buddy is the most popular backup application. It comes in three flavors - Palm, Windows, and Mac. Palm Buddy is a full install/backup Mac desktop tool. Palm Backup is a full install/backup Amiga desktop tool. I highly recommend using one of these products.

Unfortunately it is not always possible to sync immediately after a hard reset. If you have a unit that supports adding to Flash, buy FlashBuilder or FlashPro from TRG and install your essential applications in Flash. You can also install data in Flash but you will not be able to modify it in any way. Be sure to check the Flash Compatibility List before installing anything in Flash.

A hard reset is always traumatic, but the use of Flash and a backup utility will enable you to reset and go on without too much disruption.
