Spotlight on Freeware: Card Games

Rally 1000

Rally 1000 by David Mayes is Mille Bourne for the Pilot. Face the Pilot in a road race to 700 or 1000 miles. All of the features of the card game were faithfully ported including road hazards, safeties, a game extension option, and the scoring rules. Rally also includes great animation with two cars following the progress of you and your opponent toward the finish line and a checkered flag waving to signify the end of each round.

Hearts

Hearts by David Mayes pits you against 3 Pilot opponents as you try to avoid the Black Lady or shoot the moon. This implementation alternates passing direction each round and doesn't let you play points on the first deal of each round. An optional Omnibus mode is available which makes the Jack of Diamonds worth -10 points. In this mode, you must get the Jack of Diamonds as well as the usual Queen of Spades and full complement of hearts to shoot the moon.

Cribbage

I am not an expert cribbage player and I don't quite understand all of the scoring rules, but I am told that Cribbage by David Mayes is a pretty faithful representation. Cribbage will automatically handle moving the pegs or you can choose to score manually. You can also toggle a Muggins option. Cribbage comes with a fairly extensive rules sheet which I am using to learn the game.

There are many other freeware card games available for PalmOS. Check out the card games section of your favorite download site to see which games are available.
