I would recommend Starring T. Rex! as a good introduction to dinosaur films and literature. It is far from thorough, but is enough to put the reader on the track of some classic dinosaur films and novels to explore (or to avoid, in some cases!). The main fault that I found with Starring T. Rex! was Sanz's repetitive use of the terms "dinosaurology" and "dinosaurology." I found this annoying habit an irritating attempt to be "hip" or cool as he discusses paleontology and paleontologists. Perhaps Sanz felt that he needed to jazz up the science in order to make it palatable to readers more interested in pop culture than in paleontology.
Jose Luis Sanz is Professor of Paleontology at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid in Madrid, Spain. His research focuses on dinosaurs and other Mesozoic reptiles in Western Europe and the early evolutionary history of birds. In addition to Starring T. Rex!, he is the author of six Spanish-language books.
