Tyrannosaurus rex, the "Tyrant Lizard King"Before you get too upset about T. rex maybe not being the mighty hunter that we like to think of it as, keep in mind that many of our modern predators will not turn down a free meal if they find a dead animal. Lions are happy to scavenge carcasses left by smaller predators, or from natural deaths in the wild. And our mighty eagles will also happily snap up any food they find. Whether Tyrannosaurus rex was a predator or a scavenger, or perhaps some of both, it is still an impressive animal, and certainly one of my favorites. For more information about Tyrannosaurus rex, be sure to read The complete T. rex: How stunning new discoveries are changing our understanding of the world's most famous dinosaur by John R. Horner and Don Lessem, Touchstone, 1993. Be sure to visit my web site for more links to Natural History Museums.
