Disney's "Dinosaur", A Review

Also, the lemurs are rather large and well-developed for the time period. This allows Disney to show them as being especially cute and intelligent, where they actually would have not reached this stage until the Eocene Epoch. Again, this is a technical point that only a biologist would notice. Children will of course ignore both of these inaccuracies, and find the film to be pure entertainment.

I do have one recommendation for parents. The film is rather violent, it shows dinosaurs fighting, dinosaurs being killed, and dinosaurs being eaten by carnivores. Although death is an important concept for children to grasp, I feel the amount of death and violence in "Dinosaur" makes it inappropriate for children under the age of seven. I know several children began screaming whenever the Carnotaurus came on-screen, and there was a lot of crying during the death scenes. For parents of children younger than seven, I would recommend that you wait until the film comes out on video, then when you watch it with your children, you can stop the video during the scary parts and talk to your kids about what is going on, or even fast forward through the really scary parts.
