The Natural Science Center of Greensboro in Greensboro, North Carolina is a medium-sized museum that has plenty of displays and live animals to keep both children and adults entertained.

As visitors first enter the museum, they can look down into the Pendulum Gallery and see the Foucault Pendulum. The pendulum demonstrates the rotation of the Earth. Visitors can go downstairs to play with puzzles and visit the Biology, Sea, Physics, Herpetology, and Geology laboratories and see live animals. The Collections Department is also housed downstairs, as are collections of shark jaws and sea shells.

After walking through the Marine Gallery and Herpetarium downstairs, visitors can then go back upstairs and view traveling exhibits in the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition Gallery and Great Hall Traveling Exhibition Gallery. Visitors can learn more about geology in the Gem and Mineral Gallery. After walking across the entrance hall, visitors can then go into either Kid's Alley or down the hall to see Antique Science Instruments and the Solar Observatory. A walk through the Thomas Edison Gallery takes visitors into the Dinosaur/Paleontology gallery, where they can see a 36 foot (12 meter) long model of a Tyrannosaurus rex, as well as skeletons of Triceratops and Stegosaurus. Visitors can then see the Sigmund Sternberger Health Gallery and the Weather Alert Gallery. Education Theaters in the museum host short presentations by museum docents throughout the day.

Before leaving, visitors will want to circle back around to the Lemur Gallery and the Petting Zoo. Visitors can pet and even feed a variety of farm animals in the Red Barn. The Natural Science Center of Greensboro is adjacent to Country Park, and also offers a playground, two small lakes, and nature trails for visitors to enjoy.

Visitors to the Natural Science Center of Greensboro can view a show in the Edward R. Zane Planetarium and Solar Observatory for an additional admission price of $2. A variety of gifts and educational toys are available at the Thesaurus Shoppe. Vending machines and both indoor and outdoor picnic areas are available for lunch.

The Natural Science Center of Greensboro hosts several special events throughout the year. Annual events include Seafest, Bunny Day, Astronomy Day, RockFest, Insectaphobia, Dino Day, Snaketacular, Boo Bash, as well as holiday events.

Members of the Natural Science Center of Greensboro receive free admission to the Natural Science Center, free or reduced admission to special exhibits, a subscription to the quarterly newsletter The Pendulum Press. Members also receive a discount at the Thesaurus Shoppe, invitation to special Members Only events, priority registration in classes and programs, and discounts for classes and programs.
