Muslims have made a splended contribution to architecture. The architectural work done by the muslims is no doubt still the best and one can not deny their work in this field. One can find the perfect example of their work in the sub-continent where Taj mahal stands as a living example of the muslims contribution to architecture. One finds a lot of historic buildings in both India and Pakistan the two neibouring countries. Spectacular forts, palaces, mosques, tombs and gardens are found every where in both Pakistan and India.
In Pakistan you will find the architecture of the mughal rulers in almost all the big cities like Multan, Peshawar and Lahore. These all are the cities which were the favourite cities of the great emperors of this region, those emperors built these cities for thier luxury and now these cities and their historic buildings stand as a perfect model of the architectural work which they have done so splendidly.
Peshawar is the city from where all the conquerors entered this region, whether they were conquerors like Ahmad shah abdali from Iran or conquerors from Afghanistan. This gave this city a new charm and beauty, for who ever entered this region left some thing from his part.This makes Peshawar one of the most historic cities of Pakistan. After Peshawar the second stop of all these conquerors was always Lahore, as i have already mentioned that Lahore has always been the unassailable favourite city of all the rulers of this region.
One finds a lot of old buildings in both these cities, one finds spectacular buildings all around these cities, also the government is working quite hard to develope these cities and also to maintain the historic places of these cities, a a mixture of old and new architectural work make these cities exemplary. These grand buildings in both these cities has given birth to other crafts also like stone cutting and marble carving. One finds perfect model of mughal architecture in Badshahi mosque and Shalimar bagh. Both these stand in Lahore.
