Hollywood is it helping or hurting?

For instance part of the Practical Magick story that was cut out for time was about the women who wanted a spell cast upon her husband so that he would have to love her again. In real life that kind of thing could lead to an obsessive stalking that ultimately ends up with one or both parties dead. It is nothing to mess with. I have never read the book that goes with the Movie, but I have been told the book includes that part of the story. They show the Aunt's taking the money for the service what they don't say is that by trading money for the spell, they are severing Karmic ties to the course that will follow. It falls somewhere in the idea that you don't charge another Pagan for your help but people who aren't pagan can be charged for dabbling. I never really understood how the exchange of money was suppose to sever your Karmic tie to what it was you were doing, or helping someone do, but apparently there is a reason for it somewhere.

I guess my issue is that, when given the idea that the Craft is all love and light and that there isn't a darker side to it, children get falsely lead into something that can harm them. When given to dark and sinister a view, we are condemned and not given credit for knowing that certain things should not be done even if we can do them. Practical Magick tried to balance that but even it left off some important info that might discourage people from participating in things most Pagans and Wiccans consider Taboo.

They wouldn't see it as a warning to stay away from such nonsense; they would see it as proof that we all do such horrible things. Can a balance be found? Should a balance be found? At this point I don't have an answer. Maybe perhaps Charmed has it right. Perhaps the key is to show them that most of us are out to do good in this world and that our rituals and traditions are not to be feared is the way. Then after we have become more accepted, we
