To Stir a Magick Cauldron by Silver Ravenwolf, is an excellent look into knowledge needed to become initiated to the first level of the Wiccan Priesthood. Ravenwolf does a wonderful job of breaking everything down into easy to understand lessons. If you have decided that the Pagan path is for you but still have questions on how to go about writing a spell or creating a ritual this is the book for you.
She includes everything from how to ground and center to creating a circle to creating a Talisman. She also includes all the correspondences needed to create the perfect spell. In each chapter are several small things she asks you to do that help to open you up to the path you have chosen. This book is a great resource weather you are a solitary practitioner just beginning your path or a member of a coven looking for resource material to teach to new initiates. One of the things I like best about this book is the way she speaks directly to the reader. You feel as though she wrote the book and directed it toward you as a person. She shows her kindness and compassion as well as her irritation over things she sees as being wrong. You don't just get a look into her path but a look at the women herself. This book was written in joy and a desire to share with others her experiences. She accomplishes it well. Never are you left with a feeling that she believes that her readers are less than she is because they may not know the information she is providing. Silver comes across as an open honest kind woman who cares about the pagan community as a whole. I truly believe she believes in the Universal Web that we all contribute to and believes that the Social reforms that are needed will only come through education. If there is one thing about this book that stands it out beyond all others that are published on Paganism it would have to be the resource guide designed to help connect us all to the community at large. She includes her own Wiccan/Pagan Press Alliance in this list along with the Anti Discrimination Lobby, Occult supply shops, and newsletters printed across the country. Equally as good are the simply activities she provides in small box's in each chapter. Though not part of the text, they are activities than can help you being to understand better what she is saying and grow from it. One cannot argue with the value of action in learning and she has managed to design a book that allows not just the mind to have new ideas to consider but the entire body, mind and soul to be active in the consideration. If Wicca is right for you, you will know it by the end of this book. I highly recommend it to anyone who is beginning their path. Go To Page: 1
