What is Paganism

Based upon the information on the Wheel I think you can see that this is a spiritual movement based deeply in the earth and the cycle of life. Pagans do not fear death because death is just another step on this great journey. We celebrate life and death. We try to find balance in all things, the Yin/Yang factor. We worship the earth. You will hear terms like Mother earth, Father Sun, Daughter moon. We take bits and pieces from ancient primordial paths and combine them here and there until we get the right combination for us personally.

No two pagans believe the same thing. It is a broad scoped religion that allows for the incorporation of bits and pieces of all religions. Hence why there are those who refer to themselves as Christian Wiccan. I just call them Universal Unitarians LOL. The Goddess aspect is what is easy for most pagans. After all who wouldn't know their mother? But, in a society where people often find their way to paganism because of a disillusionment with the Christian God, and where so many men spend more time at the office, playing golf or becoming Dead beat dads it is hard for us as a whole to find the perfect God.

Pagans tend to treat the father image within the divine as someone to be called upon only if a battle is to be waged on some front. He's good at fighting bullies and helping out in harsh real world situations but he isn't good at providing comfort. Because of this idea of Fathers in general, we lean more toward the mother essence. Each of us has a responsibility to the balance of nature to find a way to connect to the father aspect as well.

That is a quick overview of the Religious side of Paganism minus the Magical properties. Ultimately any religion that doesn't worship Christ or Allah in some fashion could be considered pagan. It isn't just a Wiccan phenomenon or even the effort to bring back the Druids. No it includes anyone who believes in a strong female aspect of the divine, or even the basic worship of the earth as our primordial mother like the Native Americans do. For those of you just now exploring the path of Paganism I hope this helped you a bit down your journey.
