The Yellow Turban RebellionThough small revolts occured over the next few years, the remaining Yellow Turbans eventually faded away and Zhang Jue did not survive to see just how prophetic his words had been. Pandora's box had been opened and the military generals who had been successful in defeating the Yellow Turbans now fought amongst themselves for power, overthrowing their old masters. The country was in chaos and the emperor abdicated in 221, ending the reign of the Han Dynasty. Three centuries of warfare would follow and the "Way of the Highest Peace" had yet to be attained.
