The Rise of the Purple GangTo protect the enterprises for the Gang money was made available to local politicians and police. Corruption became common place and the guidelines for the organization that would arise in Chicago were being perfected. Small timers in the prohibition business were being taken over by some of the more organized gangs from New York and Chicago, but the Purple Gang was not to be dealt with in such an easy manner. The Purple Gang was willing to fight back to protect their interests and openly fought against the encroaching New York Gangs. The big confrontations were yet to come.
