Organizing the Modern YakuzaTaoka's organization the Yamaguchi-gumi, became the most powerful of the factions, and the symbols of his group could in most cases gain its owners anything they wanted. A rhombus shaped pin would be worn for all to see along in many cases with displayed tattoos. However, while most of the civilian population could be controlled by such membership displays some of the other factions maintained their own spheres of influence even against the Yamaguchi-gumi. In efforts to break the power of the Yakuza the government has followed the example of the United States in setting up a series of laws much like the RICCO Laws. This effort has lead to some loss of power by the organization, but their strong hold on political groups and sections of the economy has not allowed for a total disruption of its power bases.
