I have been writing about organic food and wine for many a year and wonder if my words ever reach anyone (except for those mean people who cannot write so they criticize those of us who can). I still see the unbearable fatness of so many people. I still read the same ads for No fat/Low fat stuff being good for you. The television still blares out its message of all the incredibly horrible fast food restaurants, and now the cooking primadonnas are getting into the act with their outrageous mixes of foods.
I am now going to copy something that was written by Dr. Royal Lee, DDS in 1943 because it so succinctly says much. "We have drifted into this deplorable position of national malnutrition quite inadvertently (I do not agree with that being the case). It is the result of scientific research with the objective of finding the best (for the companies involved) ways to create foods that are non-perishable that can be made by mass production methods in central factories, and distributed so cheaply that they sweep all local competition from the market (unless you have an iota of sense in your head regarding health and nutrition). Then, after there develops a suspicion that these "foods" are inadequate (which they are) to support life, modern advertising steps in to propagandize the people into believing that there is nothing wrong with them, that they are products of scientific research intended to afford a food that is the last word in nutritive value (big mistake) and the confused public (brainwashed by greed run marketing) is totally unable to arrive at any conclusion of fact, and continues to blindly buy the Rubbish that is killing them off years ahead of their time." Recently on a press trip to Europe and the UK, I had a number of appointments set up to interview organic cheese makers in Worcestershire and was so impressed with the quality of their products - the freshness, the use of natural ingredients, using original, time-honoured recipes. I visited Boroughs Market under the Southwark side of London Bridge, a literal heaven of fabulous foods brought up fresh from the country - cheeses, breads, meats, fish, vegetables and other delicacies. I was awed with the quality and diversity of these foods and when I spoke to the owner of a well-known cheese store in Beverly Hills, whom I do respect. he said that although we are making a little headway here in the USA, it will take time to catch up as naural food production in Europe and the UK is hundreds of years old. Also there is not such a greed factor involved there. Farmers and small producers are happy to make the best in quality and nutrition. To grow crops and vegetables without the use of GMO's and take care of their fields and animals. To support Mother Nature so she can return the gift with abundance. Go To Page: 1 2
