I found it rather interesting yesterday at the gym I go to. They had a class for Seniors and I have never seen such a crowd of old looking people. I do applaud them for attending a class and having the motivation to do something for themselves. I don't applaud their letting themselves look the way they look.
Let's go into the garden for a moment using it as a synonym. Most plants at the end of the year die or hibernate. They go 'underground' till spring. Then up come fresh green shoots and, after a little while, beautiful foliage or blossoms. But we do have to nourish the soil and take care of the plants. Just so with the body that the good Lord gave us. WE have to nourish it and make it beautiful. WE have to exercise it and put into it not only the food but the thoughts that will keep it agile and beautiful (beauty being in the eye of the beholder and everyone should own their own beauty, no matter what). And as we are creators, what we think ofttimes manifests. Just like mold profligates on plants, negativity can fill the mind, influence the emotions and result in the physical outcrops of ugliness, anger, disease and illness. And who created all of that, surely the person who put it in motion. As we get older, we need to monitor our responses and change the many habitual patterns we have grown and nurtured and which definitely do Not work for us either in the world or in ourselves. Most people are at the mercy of mass marketing to eat ALL THE WRONG FOODS. They are bombarded with television and radio ads to eat processed, chemically grown and produced items which deaden the brain and cause many physical illnesses. Surely it is up to our own common sense to realize that fad diets and junk food DO NOT WORK. Can you imagine feeding a plant with lo carb fertilizer, with junk food, with lo fat items. They would complain mightily. The lo carb would stunt its growth, the junk food would swell it out of all proportion and because of the lo fat, the correct nutrients would not flow through its veins. Oh I can hear a roar of disapproval. Ha Ha Ha! I say look in your mirror and do you see the beautiful, slim, healthy woman that I see as my reflection. My bones are strong, my skin is vibrant and I have butter on my toast everyday. I refuse to diet, another mass money making device, but I walk and garden and go to the gym. I think good thoughts especially about myself and I laugh at myself. Sometimes I feel old, I'm 67 going on 68, but I do my inner work and love myself for feeling that way. And I have a lot of fun just being me. Go To Page: 1 2
