When planting tomatoes you can plant the seedling all the way down to the first set of true leaves to get a thicker and sturdier stalk. Also, when planting squash or cucumbers, planting in hills keeps them well drained and warms their soil to give them a better start. After all the seedlings are planted the best bet is to lay a soaker hose down at this point and mulch over everthing, hose included, with grass clippings or other good quality mulch. Now all there is to do is watch and wait. If you have mulched sufficiently you should not even have too much weeding to do. Next article, side dressing. Go To Page: 1 2
