hybrid it could be most anything now days because of all the crosses

grow. Orchids with a sympodial growth pattern usually grow in a
horizontal direction like a creeping vine. Cattleya, Cymbidium, and
Dendrobiums are sympodial. Orchids with monopodial growth grow
upward from a single point. Phalaenopsis, Vanda, and Angraecum are
monopodial.
A: No! Orchid roots need air and drainage. If water is allowed to
collect around the roots like in a pot with no drain holes, the
roots will rot. The best pots to plant orchids in are the ones with
slats up the sides of the pots. This type of pot allows good air
movement around the roots and allow good drainage.
Q: All of my blooms suddenly died.
A: When this happens, most likely the flowers have been pollinated.
Once pollinated, the orchid no longer has need of the bloom. Other
causes could be exposure to ethylene or other pollutants, or
possible a sudden change in temperature.
Q: Are orchids fragrant?
A: Many orchids are very fragrant. Some have scents so strong you can smell them all over the house! Some smell like vanilla, chocolate, raspberry, citrus fruits and even the old familiar lilacs. Other orchids, however, have no scent at all. Don't miss next months article! Are there BLACK orchids? Stop by and find out. Since you love orchids don't miss my NEW Orchid Screen Saver!!!
