One of the first classes I took at college was Computer Programming. I remember this because we did not have access to a computer until the final exam. All of our work was with flowcharts and logic. I can't remember what my final project coniststed of, something like figuring the age of a person when you plugged in their birthdate. But I do remember entering my information into this room sized box of lights and spinning reels. When it worked, there was applause and I got an A. From then on I was hooked. My first computer purchase was in the early 80's- a TI-99/4A. Technology had finally come to the home! All the programs were stored on cassettes. I remember buying the TI maganzines that would have programs you could write ( or enter). It would be like 60 pages on script. The final result was a bouncing ball- but you made it bounce! The real frustration came when you entered all your script and nothing happened. Error Line 1788880000. I would have to go back and check everything. I would spend hours writing and checking and rechecking, only to find that in the next issue of TI, there was a mistake in that line. Every job I have had since 1982 has had something to do with computers, even though I have never been in the computer field. My main source of income in college was working at a steel fabrication company. I was the shipping clerk and had to enter all the data in the computer. I was so fascinated by this machine. Even though the process was simple of maintaining inventory, it seemed like magic. Later I was chosen to learn the Radio Shack TS-80 when I was an assistant manager at a homeless shelter. Previously, I assisted others in learning Office 97 and many of its wonderful attributes. Currently, I am learning a little Visual Basic as I prepare for my masters in Project Management. So I have this love affair with the computer. Computers have become a current neccessity. If you are in the market for one there are many shops that offer great deals and bargains. Listed below are my 10 favorites. 1) uBid Computer Auctions!- I have spent more money here than any other shopping site! Everything sitting on my desk at this moment came from uBid. 2) 8) Buy and sell all your computer equipment at Half.com
