Computer Game Killed My Computer: Buying Computer Games - Page 2© Reginald Vickers Luckily for me I had to go to work and was able to leave the entertaining to Joyce for the rest of the evening. The game I had tried to load was over 10 years old and incompatible with my computer. Later I was finally able to get the computer running and removed the old software. It was fine then. I thought to myself that if only I had some good up-to-date games to play, they wouldn't have been so bored. Today I began shopping for games so I would be better prepared for their visit next year. Here is the list of sites I found that were the best places to buy computer games. But remember these two simple rules: 1- Make sure the requirements on the software match your system. The game that I tried to load my nephews on to my system was probably 10 years old and didn't quite match my system. If you are using Windows ME, you can usually be safe with software for Windows 98, but check with the manufacturer before you shell out the big bucks. 2- Buy what you enjoy- don't just buy any computer game. I know, this goes against a true shopper's attitude. There are some sites that give away the software and all you have to do is pay for shipping. Even though these are usually software titles that are out of print, still there are great bargains found here. One such site is Freesoft.com. I have no ideal how they can afford to do this. Sure they charge more for shipping but still... these are some very good titles. For more information click on the link below: Another site you will find great bargains at, even though not free is: Software Super Mall: And then there is my favorite for all things cheap and used: Find great deals on books at Half.com. . If you are a gamer and have other machines you will be able to click on GAMES and find all the games your heart desires. But if you're looking for PC games then you will quickly discover that it's not easy because it is not listed under games nor under computer and software. Got COMPUTER then ACCESSORIES, and then OTHER COMPUTER ACCESSORY. When I go to one of these online gaming stores, I can picture the 12 year old owner blasting away at some ghoulish dragon. Just as he finishes the 2,428th level his email interrupts, "You got money". He stops playing and says, "cool". And goes back to blowing up the nuclear sub-Arctic lair where the dragon resides. I don't know if that is how it is but the gaming stores offer a special element that most do not: you can tell it was created by a gamer. Check out www.softwarefirst.com. They have a great selection (and for most all gaming machines) and distribute worldwide. Click on the flag of your country first (they don't tell you to do that and I don't know why).
