"Blue" is our 1986 Olds Cutlass Ciera. It has been one of the most reliable cars we have ever owned (it's a GM, of course) except for the radio (as I said, it's a GM, of course). Blues radio has a tendency to change station on it's own, sometimes it would stick on one station for 2 or 3 minutes, and sometimes 2 or 3 seconds. This would be very distracting to most, but to an ADD individual as myself, it was entertaining and adventerous. You never knew what it would play next. One day 4 months ago, while hauling garbage to the dump, Blue stopped on some radio station in Atlanta. This was somewhat unusual since there is a 200 mile difference from our mountain home to the big city. All I heard was the station give their call letters and location and a song began to play. I was entranced by the sounds from this song. To me, it sounded like the perfect musical creation. I was also amazed at how clear the signal was coming through. I pulled off the side of the road in hopes not to loose the sound. But right as the song ended, Blue began it's search again. When I got home, I announced to Joyce that I had heard the perfect song. She asked me who it was by and of course I said, "I don't know". She asked me the name of it and my answer was the same, "I don't know". Lastly she asked if it was a new song or an old one and I had the same answer. Her eyebrow raised as she walked away I blurted out, "it sounded like..." She turned. Bob Dylan, singing and playing acoustically...with a string background..and a disco like beat. She muttered something that sounded to me like, "You need help." And walked away. She did not appreciate my new quest. I do not let things go very easily and I was going to find out who sung this song. I began my internet search by browsing through the Amazon.com 100 Hot CDs. I listened to clips while attempting to create the sound that I heard earlier on Blue. After two nights of listening through hundreds of clips, I began to lose hope. This was how I wasted a whole weekend. Maybe Blue was just pulling one of his fidelity pranks- Bob Dylan with strings and a disco beat.
