The Artist In Me (Won't Come Out)

There is a strange love-"can't do" in my life. The activities I love to the most are the ones that I can't succeed at and the things I hate to do, are the things I am somewhat successful with. Let me explain. I hate to read, but I have been considered a successful writer (anyone who makes more than $3/week writing is considered successful). I love music, but can't play an instrument. My favorite sport is boxing and I'm a total whimp. I love art and I can't even draw a stick figure. But I bet I'm the only kid who had to go to Summer school to make up for "Art". Well, that's OK. I do love to study and admire pieces of art work. Last week, I was only going to write the one article on art. But I recieved so many emails from artists about displaying their pages that I thought I had better add a few more sites. First, let me say that the best sites to get information on the art world is right here at Suite101. Click on Directory and Arts and Recreation and you will find many articles on art, artists, museums, and even the business itself. These people are much more informed than I am. Speaking of the sites by my cohorts, one great shopping experience is by going to the museums and then to their shops. A few examples are: http://www.bmashop.com/asp/root/default.... http://www.smithsonianstore.com/asp/root... http://store.yahoo.com/dia8/, and even, and http://www.ncsml.org/museumstore.htm . A great way to locate the museum of your choice is at: http://www.amn.org/ . Not only will you find a very thorough list of museums but you can also search through the over 500,000 works of art on display. Of course, you can just go to any search engine and look up information on museums. You will find that many of the smaller galleries even offer paintings for sale on the Internet. One of the best "Internet galleries" is at http://www.egallery.com/ . The one site that I have used the most for my art has to be eBay! . No only do I find original art offered by the artist, but I can usually pick up a few beautfiul older paintings for a fraction of the value. Since it is difficult for so many artists to get the promotion they need from the Internet, a number of groups have sprung up that help these individuals. One of them is BigCanvas.com - Where the world buys art!.
