Home Decorating- Catalog Style© Reginald Vickers
Since my earliest age, I can remember my excitement in getting the mail. As the bus when get closer to our house, my heart would start racing knowing that the mailman had just put something in the box. I would leap off the bus in a single bound and lunge for the silver shining tube with the numbers 1254 on the side. As I pulled out the treasure from the silver chest, I would race to the house as if the neighbor's German shepherd was nipping at my heels. I threw everything on the table for some adult to read (and maybe weep over) but the large colorful books imprinted "Catalog". I loved catalogs. I would save them in my room and at night have my parents read to me from them. The would say, "And here the lady is opening up her new Westinghouse Refrigerator with 15.9 cubit feet and a built-in ice crusher. The clear shelves make it easy to see what is below. And it's on sale for $269!" I would smile as I drifted off to sleep, going to bargain dream world.
My other love was home decorating. I would cut out pictures of home decorations and furniture. I made doll houses out of cardboard and wallpapered them, putting my decorations inside. (My Pop worried about my actions until once I decorated them, I would set them on fire, then Momma began worrying about me.) I think if anything has encouraged my love for Internet shopping, it came from my enjoyment from ordering from catalogs. This is especially true for home decorations. No matter what motif you decorate in, you will find it on line or in catalogs. With that thought, we are going to begin a series on home decorating shopping sites. To begin our adventure in to home décor shopping, we will start with my first love- catalog shopping. It's funny but the most successful home decorating Internet sites began with catalog sales. Two great home decorating companies have greatly increased their shopping traffic by being on line. One is the great values on home furnishings at HomeVisions.com . If you have never been to their site, you must go! And I will almost guarantee you that if you are serious about buying new home decorations, you will end up shopping there.
