This past week our family got together at my parent's house. I made the
mistake of mentioning that I was beginning to do a little yard work. Laughter filled the room. The unsolicited comments flooded the room. "You'd better warn the rescue squad." "Have you had your tetanus shot?" "Maybe you should just spray paint your lawn!" Finally, when the laughter began to settle to just a few more jabs and comments, my Pop pulled me into the other room and said,
"Son, I have something for you to read." I felt like this was going to be one of those
Ozzie and Harriet "Father & son" (or should I say Ozzie & Ricky) moments. My imagination went wild with what he was going to share. Was it a copy of a letter that his father had written to him when his brothers teased him? Was it an inspirational verse that he held dear to his heart in the midst of adversity? He flipped through a stack of papers and pulled out one and smiled. He handed the paper to me and said,
"Maybe you should read your own article first". Everyone was peaking around the corner and the laughter filled the house once again.
Yes, it's true that my landscaping ability is lacking. I am just happy if this year the weeds are green instead of brown. And, yes, my article that my Pop was referring to,
http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/1901... does paint a pretty bleak picture when it comes to my yard work. But this year, I've decided, it's going to be different. And I found one site that is going to make my yard more spectacular than ever,
Yard-Art.net. This site is like a shopping mall for whatever makes your yard and garden beautiful and unique.
Once you click on Products, you will find nine categories of products. (You will want to browse through each one to discover all the great items they have available).
The categories do more than just give you a list of items that are available but also suggestions on how to use these products. One of my favorites is the Wire Art. It's kind of like making Chia pets out of your lawn. You will find information on how to do "Topiary" here as well.
Yet of all the items found here, my favorite has to be the Yard Lights. These unique luminaries are beautiful in nature and would bring a unique romantic setting to even a garden full of weeds.
