Let It Snow! Let It Snow! If You're Prepared!

I'm not sure who said the S--- word today first, but someone did. Maybe it was a newscaster or a radio personality. It could have even been some old timer who read it from the Farmer's almanac. It doesn't matter because the damage has been done. I'm always amazed how people act when they hear that S--- word. The results of such use of language can lead to a number of actions. I am sure that by now you have guessed that the S--- word is SNOW. I have lived in Tennessee, Virginia, and even Michigan and the S--- word causes little tension in the lives of the residents in those regions. But in the mountains of North Carolina, it is a different story. Yelling "nuclear attack" or "FREE RC and Moon pie" gets less reaction than the S--- word. Just so you can experience what I mean I have come up with: TOP 10 SIGNS THAT SOMEONE HAS USED THE S--- WORD IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA 10. All 8,500 residents of Transylvania County attempt to shop at the local Ingles (grocery store) all at the same time with the intent on purchasing bread, milk, and toilet paper. 9. Every driver on the highway thinks that any dampness on the road might be "black ice" and slows to 10mph. This is despite the fact that it is 60 degrees outside. 8. School has already decided that it will close for the rest of the week, even though the first flake has not fallen. 7. After a visit to Ingles, every parent makes a mad rush to the video store in hopes of entertaining their children. Some fill their truck beds with videos. 6. Wal-Mart adds a display in their lobby with snow shovels and rock salt. 5. Cars are not parked in the driveways but at the bottom of the hills. 4. Heating and natural gas prices skyrocket to 56% above the cost the previous week. 3. By 6pm that evening, everyone has barred themselves in their house with no intentions of exiting until the spring thaw. 2. Nine out of ten callers to the local AM radio's program "Community Bulletin Board" is asking, "Do we have school tomorrow?" 1. Truck tires with chains are heard clunking up and down the road throughout all evening. Therefore to better prepare for the first flakes that may fall from the sky, I have listed shopping sites that can make the S--- word less threatening.
