Why Blondes Have Few Cents (Buying Coins on the Internet)

(Disclaimer: This article is written about one particular blonde and should not be misunderstood that I have a prejudice or that I think that all blondes are silly people.)

It's been a year and a half since I first had the privilege of meeting Holly. When Holly first arrived to our staff, she was fresh out of college and didn't have any experience in human services. Yet it was her personality that impressed us when we hired her. She had all these wonderful ideas about changing the world. She brought a new excitement and fresh energy to our team. But more than that, it was obvious from the beginning that she was going to be fun to work with. She was young, naive, had a great sense of humor, and very blonde.

Before I continue, let me preface this by saying that Holly is a very intelligent person. She just occasionally slips into stereotypical "blondeness". One of those times happened this past week. Holly came into the office and asked for change for a dollar. I told her all I had was 50 cents. She asked me, "Do you think the drink machine would take this old dollar coin?" I looked at the brilliant looking 1974S Eisenhower silver dollar. I told her no. She hung her head. She said she was really wanting an A&W root beer. In like manner of Jacob to Esau, I did the only thing a true friend would do. "I'll buy that old coin from you for 50 cents," I offered. She lit up and told me how great a friend I was. I felt like a "heel". I shouldn't take advantage of my friend, no matter what color her hair. So the next day I gave her the rest of her dollar change.
