Don't Tell Me "I Love You" and Other Viruses© Reginald Vickers
These past few weeks it has been very obvious to me that I do not have many friends. No one sent me an email that said, "I Love You"! This hurt me. I have a theory that those who were most affected by the "I Love You" virus, were those who have the most friends (either that or they have the most gullible friends).
Let me prove my point. These worm viruses are like some pyramid schemes. It starts with one person. Once this person accepts the product (or opens the email), every person that is in their address book is invited to join. Then a number of these people also accept the invitation and everyone in their address book is invited to join. And it spreads and spreads. Therefore, of the millions of people that had their address books copied (and computers infected), not one was a person who I knew. That's like living on this planet and never having someone tell you about Amway! Yet as quickly as it these viruses come, there are solutions. Some of these solutions are common sense and some are products. The three things you can do to keep yourself from being infected are: 1) Never open attachments- even from people you know; 2) When someone you know sends you an attachment, before you open it, write them back and ask them if they sent it to you; 3) Don't open the attachment until the six o'clock news comes on to see if there are any viruses making headlines. Yet the very best way to protect yourself from viruses is with Antivirus software. Here you will find the best ways to protect your computer from viruses, as well as your pocketbook. How would you like to get paid for using an Antivirus program? That's not quite how it works, but close. AllAdvantage is a great tool bar that stays at the bottom of your screen and it pays you while you surf. They are offering McAfee VirusScan for $.50 a month. This will be deducted from your earnings that you would get from using AllAdvantage. This comes with a monthly updates. Great deal. Great bargain. Great way to make extra money (I make about $30 a month, just for having this (useful) tool at the bottom of my monitor. Sign up at Join AllAdvantage.com Here! . Beyond.com's Love Bug Report is, not only a great place to get the latest on the Love Bug and other viruses, but it is the best place to find great deals on Anitvirus software. Go To Page: 1 2
