So You're Sending Your Kid to Hawaii! Cheap Air Fare Tips!© Reginald Vickers
As I was walking down the hall past my friend Jack's office this past week, he yelled out at me, "Hey, Reginald!" I figured Jack wanted to discuss his passion for English football. I was guessing that he was going to bring up the latest mediocre performances of Phil and Gary Neville from Manchester United. But today, even football wasn't on his mind. As I peered into his office, I observed a slender middle-aged man frantically emptying his pockets, wallets, and even the hidden money out of his sock into a jar stashed away in his file cabinet. I inquired, "Jack, what are you doing?" Jack looked worried. He began to tell me the story. His daughter had invited him to lunch. He told her that he didn't have any money. She said, "Don't worry Daddy, I'll pay for it." Jack said those where the most dreaded words a father could hear. He knew something was up. The last time he heard those words was when she decided to attend a private all girls' college in the mountains of Virginia. I could see that he was physically shaking and it was clear that he was reliving that experience for a second. I attempted to comfort him by saying that I was sure she was just being nice because of her love for her father. He attempted to force a grin and shake his head in the affirmative and nervously spoke, "I'm sure you're right." Neither one of us really believed it.
It was an hour or two later when I saw Jack. He invited me for a pint after work and off we went. He told me he was right. He began to tell me that she decided to do her internship in horticulture. I remarked that sounded great. He shook his head, and sighed, "In Hawaii." I was actually amazed that there was no physical evidence of trauma. He wasn't shaking this time. It could have been the Guinness. He continued, " She needs money for the air fare, room, and board." But as he talked, it wasn't what I expected from a man who just decided to spend another ten years salary for his daughter's education. I guess he was use to that. But the sparkle in his eye said it all, there was pride and honor as his little girl took another step into independence. It was then that Jack asked for my assistance. He said, "Since you are familiar with the Internet, how would you shop for great airline ticket prices?" I thought for a minute. I had never researched this before. I told Jack that I wasn't sure but I would find out. Below you will find my findings. I hope they help you as well as Jack. Go To Page: 1 2
