I'm Having One of Those Lives

Have you ever heard someone say, "I'm having one of those days" or "I'm having one of those weeks"? Actually the phrase "I'm having one of those" came from Michigan about 20 years ago. The original phrase was "I'm having one of those weeks like Reginald has every week." Throughout time the phrase shortened to "I'm having one of those weeks." Really, this is almost a true story. Actually, I'm having one of those lives.

You see I am writing this article a day past deadline. In all my years of writing, I can truly say is that I've never ever missed a deadline. Maybe I've turned in an article that wasn't quite finished by the deadline so that I could buy a few more hours, but I never missed one. After I turned in my late article to my grizzly of an editor, he would call me into his office and say, "Reginald, what kind of #%$&* is this." I would strongly protest, "What do you mean, it's a great article." He would shout back, "It looks like it's only half finished. We pay you to write complete articles, not half of ones." Then I would softly and sheepishly reply, "Oh, I must have accidentally sent you the rough draft. Here is the complete article." I don't know how that happened." Then he would laugh and smile as he read it. I would then sing him a gentle song and rub his belly and the bear would go back to his den and go to sleep.

This time, there was a real emergency. It just took 8 months to come to a head. You see that's when I purchased my new computer off of an auction on the Internet. It was a great deal and appeared to be a great computer, for what I paid for it. When I got it I had to install my own Windows and decided to go with Windows 98. The key phrase was, "I had to install". I wanted to save a few dollars and do it myself instead of paying someone to install the drivers and Windows. I have no idea how I could take something so simple and make it so complex. I don't know if I didn't install the drivers correctly or if I just hit the wrong keys or what. My Momma said I held my mouth wrong. (That's her answer for everything.)
